* Booking the Church is normally done with a priest.   The couple should make this contact themselves (not the Bride's mother!)   Giving notice is done with the local priest of the Bride and the local priest of the Groom.

** This should be done as early as possible, usually around the same time as the Church is booked.   Please click here to find out details on courses in your area.

N.B.   If the Wedding Church is not the Parish Church where the Bride is living NOW, notice must be given to both the local priest of the Bride and the local priest of the Groom.   They will undertake the preparation of the couple and the preparation of the Pre-Nuptial Enquiry forms.   These forms are then sent to the place of the Wedding Ceremony.

(Wedding booklets:   A good resource for this is: A Wedding of Your Own by Padraig McCarthy and the Celebration of Marriage both published by Veritas Publications).

Marriage Certificates – Civil and Church.   At the end of the Marriage Service you will receive the Church Marriage Certificate.   You should apply for the Civil Marriage Certificate as soon as possible after your wedding and honeymoon.
