Or

A Certificate in Counselling (Marriage and Relationship)  validated by the Pontifical University, St Patrick's College, Maynooth (Level 8, 20 ECTS on the NFQ). The Certificate in Counselling is delivered on a part time basis, at weekends, over 1 academic year.

The main theoretical approach of both courses is Person Centred. Both courses comprise a balance of  theoretical knowledge, practical  skills development and self awareness.

Membership of ACCORD
Counsellors working with ACCORD will enjoy the benefits of working within an ACCORD centre with other counsellors. Centre meetings take place on a monthly basis and counsellors will have an opportunity to meet one another and enjoy both the collegiality and wisdom of their fellow members.  Working within an organisation  offers both a supportive and educational environment where counsellors can work within organisational policies and receive the support of Continuing Professional Development and Supervision to enhance their practice as Marriage and Relationship counsellors.

Continuing Professional Development
Counsellors working with ACCORD will be offered Continuing Professional Development opportunities, on a regular basis, in areas that are relevant to the work with ACCORD clients. This professional development will afford counsellors opportunities to become more knowledgeable, skilled and self aware in their practice as Marriage and Relationship counsellors.

Supervision
All ACCORD counsellors will receive an appropriate level of supervision for their ACCORD caseload depending on their stage of development as a counsellor i.e. student, working towards accreditation, accredited counsellor.  Regular supervision will afford practising counsellors opportunities to reflect on their work in an educative and supportive environment. This reflection and support will in turn help counsellors to continue to offer  their clients  a high quality, professional,  and ethical counselling service.
